Ethan took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about this place. "I don't know about this, Mr. Alden," he said, his voice barely a whisper.
Mr. Alden chuckled softly, "Fear not, young one. This is merely the beginning of something extraordinary." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, gleaming device. "You wanted to be part of something greater, didn't you?"
"What's happening to me?" Ethan gasped, his voice tinged with panic as he watched his fingers stretch and flatten unnaturally. The room spun around him, and he felt himself being reshaped, molded like clay.
Ethan could still see and feel, but everything was different. He was now a glossy card, and he could sense the power that coursed through his new form. Mr. Alden examined the card with satisfaction, "You see, Ethan, you've become part of a legacy, something that will last forever."
"You will be cherished, valued by collectors and envied by many," Mr. Alden murmured as he turned to leave the basement. The door closed behind him with a soft click, leaving behind only the shadows and the faint hum of the device.
Mr. Alden disappeared into the twilight, "Welcome to eternity, my boy," he whispered to the card in his pocket, a new addition to his extraordinary collection.
