Chanda, the playful ghost of the palace, flits through the empty corridors, her laughter echoing softly. She is not like the other ghosts; her heart is filled with the joy of mischief and games, rather than the chills of fright. Chanda has always found delight in exploring the old rooms and sprawling gardens of her home.
Chanda drifts towards the garden, her favorite place, where the scent of blossoms is sweetest. It's here, amongst the twinkling fireflies, that she sees a small figure, a boy, Raju, sitting on a bench, his eyes wet with tears. Chanda approaches, her curiosity piqued.
"Why are you crying?" she asks gently, her voice as soft as the wind.
"I’m lost," Raju replies, sniffling. "I can't find my way back home."
Chanda smiles, her translucent form shimmering in the moonlight. She decides to help the boy, a kindred spirit who seems just as lost as she sometimes feels.
"Don’t worry," Chanda says, "I know this palace like the back of my hand. Come, let's find something sweet to cheer you up."
Together, they wander back into the palace, where Chanda leads Raju to a hidden corner filled with forgotten treasures, including a stash of candies left behind from a long-ago celebration.
As Raju falls asleep, Chanda sits by his side. She waves her hand, weaving a dream of vibrant colors and happy memories. In the dream, Raju is home, playing with his parents under a bright, sunny sky.
Raju wakes up, his heart lighter than the night before. He hears a familiar voice calling out for him. His mother, worried and frantic, has been searching everywhere.
"Mom! I'm here!" Raju shouts, running towards her voice.
Chanda watches from a distance, her heart filled with warmth as Raju is swept into his mother's arms.
Raju's mother, her face glowing with relief, turns to Chanda and smiles, though she cannot see her. Raju waves to Chanda, a promise of friendship in his gesture.
Chanda has learned something new: that a ghost can do more than haunt—they can help, they can befriend, and they can bring happiness to the living.
From that day on, Chanda and Raju share a bond that transcends the boundaries of their worlds, a testament to the power of kindness and friendship.
