Asher lay on the soft grass, his gaze fixed on the heavens. Beside him, his little brother, Sage, was trying to catch a grasshopper. The world felt vast and full of possibilities. "I want to visit where the angels are," Asher whispered, as if sharing a precious secret with the sky.
Sage paused in his pursuit, his eyes wide with wonder. "Can we really go there?" He asked, his voice full of innocent hope.
"We can build a spaceship!" Asher replied with determination.
The boys gathered materials with enthusiasm, their imaginations painting vivid pictures in their minds. Asher envisioned a grand spaceship, with buttons and blinking lights. Sage imagined wings that would take them soaring through the clouds.
"This will be the control panel," Asher declared, pointing to a panel drawn with crayons.
"And this is where the angels will sit," Sage added, arranging a row of small stones as seats.
Asher took his place at the helm, his face a mask of concentration. Sage sat beside him, clutching a paper telescope. "Ready for takeoff?" Asher asked, his voice echoing with the authority of a seasoned captain.
"Ready!" Sage replied, bouncing in his seat.
With a countdown and a dramatic ‘blast-off’ sound, they launched into their imaginary sky, the world around them forgotten as they soared toward the clouds.
Asher described the celestial wonders they were passing—stars twinkling like diamonds, comets blazing trails of light. Sage pointed out angelic figures dancing among the clouds, their forms shimmering like mist in the twilight.
"Look, there’s an angel waving at us!" Sage exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with delight.
"Let’s wave back!" Asher urged, their hands moving in unison, their hearts light with joy.
Asher and Sage yawned, their adventure leaving them pleasantly tired. "We’ll visit the angels again tomorrow," Asher promised, his voice a sleepy murmur.
"I can’t wait," Sage replied, cuddling close to his brother as the stars twinkled gently above.
Their cardboard spaceship might not have truly left the ground, but in their hearts, Asher and Sage had journeyed far beyond the reaches of their backyard, where imagination and dreams knew no bounds.
