Max was rummaging through his sock drawer, searching for a missing pair, when he felt something unusual—a warm, scaly object nestled among the cotton socks. Curiosity piqued, he carefully moved the socks aside to reveal a tiny dragon with shimmering scales and bright, curious eyes. "Whoa, what are you?" he whispered in awe.
Flicker, the dragon, tilted his head and let out a small puff of smoke, which spiraled upwards before dissipating into the air. "I'm Flicker, and I guess I live here now," he chirped, his voice surprisingly clear for such a small creature.
Max watched in fascination as Flicker explored his new surroundings. "You have to stay hidden," he advised, "Mom would freak out if she saw you!" Flicker nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Don't worry, I'll be careful," he promised.
Max realized the challenges of keeping Flicker a secret, especially with his unpredictable fire-breathing. "We need to practice controlling your fire," he suggested. Flicker nodded eagerly, "I'll do my best not to burn anything," he replied, his voice filled with determination.
Max watched with encouragement as Flicker focused on controlling his fire. "Great job, just a little more focus," Max cheered. Flicker beamed, his confidence growing with each successful attempt. "I think I'm getting the hang of it!"
Max felt a sense of accomplishment as he looked down at Flicker, who was nestled comfortably in his sock drawer. "We make a great team," he said with a smile. Flicker nodded, his eyes gleaming with gratitude. "Thanks for believing in me," he replied softly. Together, they knew they could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
