Eldric stood on the riverbank, his heart pounding in his chest as he spotted Alina struggling against the ruthless current. Without a moment's hesitation, he dove into the frigid waters, the chill biting into his skin like a thousand needles. "Hold on, Alina!"
Eldric reached Alina, his strong arms wrapping around her as he fought to keep their heads above water. Her eyes were wide with fear, but a flicker of hope ignited as she felt his reassuring presence. "Eldric, I was so scared," she gasped, clinging tightly to him.
Eldric staggered out of the river, Alina leaning against him, her breaths coming in shallow gasps. The ground was soft and welcoming beneath their feet, a stark contrast to the perilous waters behind them. "Let's get you warm," he murmured, leading her toward the shelter of the trees.
Eldric wrapped Alina in a thick blanket, the firelight dancing in her eyes as she shivered slightly. "Thank you, Eldric," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude. He nodded, his gaze steady and reassuring. "You would have done the same for me," he replied softly.
Alina looked at Eldric, a question burning in her eyes. "What were you doing by the river?" she asked. Eldric hesitated, then smiled slightly, "I was hoping to catch the legendary silver fish," he admitted, his tone light. "And instead, you caught me," she teased gently.
Eldric and Alina sat in companionable silence, the fire's warmth a comforting presence between them. "We'll face whatever comes next together," he promised. "Together," she echoed, her hand finding his, a silent vow sealed under the watchful gaze of the stars.
