Beneath the surface, where human eyes never linger, the world is alive with secrets. Here, goldfish dart in the silvery gloom, their scales flickering like embers. They move with purpose, not idle swimmers, but messengers tasked with delivering whispers between puddles scattered across the city. Below the fountain, a hidden labyrinth of watery tunnels pulses quietly with anticipation.
At the heart of the chamber, Finley, the senior goldfish postmaster, inspects a cluster of shimmering envelopes made from lotus petals. "All right, team, tonight's deliveries are especially delicate. Human secrets, raindrop rumors, and one very important wish," he announces, his voice a ripple in the current. The younger fish, eager but nervous, flutter their fins, awaiting assignment.
Luna, a nimble goldfish with a pale stripe, accepts a folded secret meant for a lonely poet. She glides through the tunnel, clutching the message, her heart pounding with excitement. Reaching the puddle, she nudges the envelope to the surface, watching as the poet stirs nearby and bends to read the words drifting in the water.
Finley rallies his team, his eyes sharp. "Stay close, everyone! Secrets are safest when we work together. Luna, take the right tunnel—Copper, guard the archives!" The fish swim in disciplined formation, their determination stronger than the swirling currents. Pebble mailboxes clatter, but no letter is lost.
Copper, the youngest courier, volunteers to deliver it. He swims through twisting tunnels, braving uncertain waters. In a puddle beneath a lamplight, he releases the wish, watching as it rises to the surface. Above, a child in pajamas gazes out the window, her eyes wide as the words appear shimmering in the moonlight.
Finley surveys his team, pride evident in his gentle smile. "We kept the secrets safe, and wishes alive. Rest now, friends. Tomorrow, new puddles will call for our help," he says softly. The goldfish settle among moss and pebbles, their tails trailing quiet ripples, as the city above awakens, none the wiser to the wonders below.
