As the city awakens above, a ripple disturbs the pool beneath the fountain. Down below, tunnels shimmer with reflected light, revealing a hidden world alive with movement. Golden scales flash as dozens of goldfish dart through crystal-clear water channels, carrying tiny envelopes fastened gently to their fins.
At the heart of the chamber, Finley, the head postmaster goldfish with a distinctive white tail, inspects the morning’s deliveries. Around Finley, younger goldfish sort slips of paper, their eyes wide with anticipation. The air hums with purpose as secrets are exchanged and sorted, each one destined for a different corner of the city above.
"Today, we have a whisper from the mayor’s garden and a riddle from the schoolyard puddle," Finley announces, voice brimming with pride. Coral, a swift and clever goldfish with iridescent scales, volunteers eagerly. "I’ll take the schoolyard riddle. It’s a tricky one, but I know all the shortcuts," Coral boasts, earning a wave of admiration from the others.
Coral slips through a narrow pipe, the envelope clutched close. Above, children’s feet splash in puddles, unaware of the messenger beneath. As Coral pops up in a rain-filled gutter, she listens to the whispers of passing humans, gathering new secrets to ferry back to the fountain.

"The riddle is delivered, and I’ve brought something extra—a secret wish from a lonely child," Coral declares. Finley smiles warmly, attaching the wish to a new envelope. "We’ll keep it safe until it finds its way home. That’s the promise of the goldfish post,"
In the gentle current, the goldfish rest, their work for the day complete. Above, the city drifts into dreams, unaware of the secrets flowing just beneath their feet. And as the moonlight glimmers on the water, the goldfish post office waits—ready for new secrets and stories by dawn.
