Shrek rubbed his eyes, trying to make sense of the swirling lights before him. Fiona stood beside him, her expression a mix of awe and concern. Donkey, ever curious, edged closer, his hooves kicking up a gentle spray of morning dew.
"What in the name of fairytales is that?" he asked, his voice tinged with both excitement and nervousness.
"It's a portal," Fiona whispered, her hand reaching out as if drawn by some invisible force.
"Well, whatever it is, it's in my swamp," Shrek grumbled, though his curiosity was undeniable.
Shrek took a deep breath and stepped forward, the portal's light enveloping him in a warm embrace. Fiona followed suit, her trust in Shrek unwavering. Donkey, not wanting to be left behind, leapt into the dazzling unknown.
"I hope there's no giant spiders on the other side!" he exclaimed, his voice echoing as they vanished through the portal.
Rumpelstiltskin, a sly grin on his face, watched from a distance. His eyes glinted with mischief as he observed the newcomers.
"Welcome to my realm, ogre," he called out, his voice echoing through the stagnant air. [@ch_4]"This is where stories never end."[/@ch_4_d]
Shrek narrowed his eyes, recognizing the voice and feeling the weight of the challenge ahead.
Fiona placed a hand on Shrek's shoulder, her voice steady. "We need to break this loop and free them."
"Aye," Shrek agreed, determination setting in. Donkey trotted nervously beside them, glancing warily at the repeating scenes.
"If anyone can fix this mess, it's us," he said, trying to muster his usual bravado.
As the portal's magic began to unravel, the vibrant colors of dawn broke through the static night. Characters paused, hesitated, and then broke free from their loops, their laughter filling the air.
Rumpelstiltskin, defeated but still defiant, retreated with a huff, his plans foiled once again.
"Let this be a lesson, Rumpel," Shrek called after him, "Fairytales aren't meant to be controlled."
Fiona smiled at Shrek, relief and joy in her eyes. Donkey flopped down on the soft grass, exhausted but content.
"I think I've had enough adventures for one day," he sighed, closing his eyes.
Shrek chuckled, wrapping an arm around Fiona. "Until the next one, then."
