Yuzu Sakura, a seventeen-year-old boy with earnest eyes, clutches the delicate hand of his childhood friend as they wait for their train. The platform thrums with life, but tension coils in the air as a classmate steps forward, malice flashing in his gaze. Suddenly, a shove—Yuto teeters on the edge, his instincts flaring, and in a desperate act, he grabs his attacker’s wrist, dragging them both into the path of the oncoming train. The world blurs, screams fade, and the last thing he feels is the slender hand of his friend slipping from his grasp.
Awareness flickers back, and Yuto finds himself transformed—no longer flesh and bone, but a small, glowing orb radiating cool mist. Light filters through his shimmering form, and confusion rises as a gentle, melodious voice surrounds him. The Goddess of Rebirth, an apparition made of crystalline snowflakes, appears, her presence serene yet powerful. "Welcome, little one. You have been chosen as a lesser ice Spirit Candidate. And yes... you are now female."
Yuto floats in disbelief, spinning slowly in the frigid air. "Wait, what did I become!? And... my friend, what happened to her?" The goddess’s laughter is soft but tinged with sorrow. "She, too, was swept away by fate’s current. She’s out there, reborn in a new form, waiting to be found." Determination sparks in the heart of the newborn spirit.
With a flicker of will, Yuto drifts from the void, her new existence tinged with uncertainty. She tests her abilities, weaving a trail of frost in her wake and sending shivers through the air. Each movement is awkward but exhilarating—the world feels vast, dangerous, and full of secrets. Her resolve solidifies: she will scour this strange land, whatever the cost, to find her friend and make sense of this second chance.
As Yuto glides above the icy water, she senses a presence—another spirit, larger and wreathed in mist, its eyes gleaming with curiosity and a hint of menace. The wind picks up, scattering powdery snow as the two spirits circle one another. Frost Warden, guardian of this realm, lowers his antlered head. "You are not of this land, little one. What brings you to the heart of winter?" "I’m searching for someone...someone precious. Please, have you seen another lost soul?"
The Frost Warden ponders, then gestures with a massive paw toward the north. "Perhaps you’ll find what you seek beyond the Crystal Vale. But beware—the world is harsh for spirits, and memories fade like melting snow." Bolstered by gratitude and hope, Yuto presses onward, her glow brightening with each step, determined to reconnect with the soul she lost—and perhaps, to discover who she is meant to become in this new, icy world.
