Elena stumbled through the underbrush, clutching her arm where the wolf had bitten her. The wound throbbed with an unnatural heat, and she could feel her bones shifting beneath her skin.
"What is happening to me?"
The Wolf, now an anthromorphic creature, stood before Elena, its golden eyes filled with a strange understanding.
"To retain your human form, you must pass the curse on," it spoke with a deep, resonant voice.
"But why? Why did you choose me?"
The Wolf lowered its head, a flicker of regret shadowing its features. "I was once like you, seeking answers in the dark. The curse binds us all, a chain of fate we cannot break."
Elena felt a surge of anger and despair. "There must be another way! I can't do this to someone else."
Elena stood on the edge of the glade, her form a blend of human and wolf, caught between two worlds. She realized that the choice was hers to make, to bear the burden or pass it on.
"I will find a way to break this curse," she resolved, determination hardening her voice.
Elena turned away from the glade, her heart heavy yet hopeful. She would seek others like her, together perhaps they could unravel the mystery and find freedom from their shared curse.
"I am not alone in this," she whispered to herself, as she set off into the unknown, a new path unfolding before her.
