With a mighty beat of his emerald wings, Tharagon, the dragon, descends gracefully into the valley, his scales glinting like polished gemstones. His arrival sends a hush over the nearby villagers, who peek cautiously from behind curtains and hedges, marveling at the unusual visitor. The dragon’s gaze sweeps across the landscape, searching for a place to finally call his own.
Tharagon approaches the office, careful not to scorch the flowers with his fiery breath. Inside, Ms. Penelope Fern, real estate agent, stands behind a wooden desk stacked with paperwork, her spectacles perched precariously on her nose. She straightens nervously as the dragon enters, scales brushing the doorway.
"May I help you, sir?"
"I’m looking to buy a house. Something with a sturdy roof and, preferably, a large fireplace,"
Ms. Fern gestures proudly to the mansion, its stained-glass windows sparkling in the fading light. Tharagon peers inside, inspecting the cavernous living room, the oversized hearth, and the reinforced beams.
"It’s built to withstand storms—and, I suppose, dragon-sized tenants,"
"I like it. But does the neighborhood mind a dragon moving in?"
Ms. Fern assures Tharagon that the village council welcomes diversity. They sit across from each other, claws and fingers poised over the contract. The moment is tense, filled with anticipation and the rustling of parchment.
"If you’re ready, we can finalize the sale,"
"I’ve waited centuries for this. Let’s do it,"
Tharagon mingles with the villagers, his massive tail curled politely away from the food tables. Children stare in awe as he demonstrates a gentle puff of flame to light the lanterns, his smile warming the crowd.
Mayor Hollis, village leader, raises a toast in honor of their new neighbor.
"May our valley always be a place where all are welcome—dragons included!"
Tharagon curls up beside the hearth, finally at ease. He gazes out the window, grateful for the warmth and acceptance of his new community. The house, sturdy and welcoming, feels like a dream fulfilled—a haven for a dragon who dared to buy a home.
