Harry walked through the hallway, feeling an odd chill despite the warmth of the sun. His attention was drawn to Mr. Crouch, the once jovial Headteacher, who now seemed distant and preoccupied, his eyes flickering with an unsettling glow.
"Something's not right with him," Harry whispered to his friends, Lily and Ethan.
Lily furrowed her brow, her eyes fixed on Mr. Crouch as he wandered aimlessly.
"I've heard he's been spending nights in the school basement," Lily said, concern lacing her voice. "We need to find out what's going on," Ethan added, clenching his fist and feeling the surge of his elemental power.
The trio descended the creaky wooden steps, their footsteps echoing softly. Harry held up his hand, a small flame dancing above his palm to light their way. Lily and Ethan followed closely, their eyes scanning the shadowy corners for any signs of activity.
"Look, over there," Lily whispered, pointing towards a faint glow emanating from behind a stack of old boxes.
Mr. Crouch stood at the center, his hands outstretched, seemingly entranced by the vortex. Harry felt his heart race, the realization of the danger dawning on him. "We have to stop him before it's too late," Ethan urged, his voice tense with urgency.
Harry, Lily, and Ethan joined hands, their elemental powers combining in a brilliant display of fire, water, and earth. "Mr. Crouch, this has to stop!" Harry shouted over the deafening roar.
"I can't control it!" Mr. Crouch replied, panic in his eyes.
With a final surge of their combined powers, the vortex imploded, leaving Mr. Crouch collapsed on the floor, dazed but unharmed. "We did it," Lily breathed, relief washing over her.
"Let's get him out of here," Ethan suggested, helping Mr. Crouch to his feet. The friends exchanged relieved smiles, knowing they had saved their world from a potential catastrophe.
