Prince Alaric, a gentle and just ruler, strolls through the gardens, exchanging warm greetings with his people. His eyes shine with hope for Vallira’s future, and the townsfolk’s love for him is evident in their smiles. Far overhead, the sky is a brilliant blue, unmarred by clouds or worry.
Abyssus the dragon lands atop the castle, wings unfurled, a storm of rage swirling around him. With a guttural incantation, a wave of dark magic sweeps across Vallira, turning every living being—man, woman, child, and animal—into lifelike stone statues. The kingdom’s beauty is frozen in time, the gardens and markets eerily still, as a shimmering veil falls over Vallira, concealing it from the world.
The bird lands on the statue of Prince Alaric in the royal gardens. Pecking curiously at his stony shoulder, it dislodges a small, smooth fragment, which tumbles to the ground. The bird seizes the stone piece in its beak and, startled by a sudden breeze, takes flight beyond the hidden veil, carrying the fragment away from Vallira. A sudden breeze kicks up the birds wings and it drops the stone, falling and spinning it lands in the shimmering lake below.
The next day while swimming, Lila sees a shimmering light at the bottom of the lake, she jumps in and swims down to grab it and brings it to the surface. Her hand closes around the warm, glowing stone, which feels oddly alive. That night, in her cozy cottage, Lila watches in awe as the stone pulses with faint light, causing objects to shift and dreams to swirl in her sleep. She glimpses visions of Prince Alaric, the doomed kingdom, and the terrible dragon, realizing the stone holds a secret longing to be whole again. She knew she had to seek out the town wizard.
Ithorian, a wise wizard with a flowing beard and eyes that sparkle with old magic, welcomes her inside the very next day. The wizard examines the stone, murmuring incantations, and recognizes the enchantments woven into its core. "This fragment is the key to a great curse," he intones, his voice echoing in the candlelit chamber, "and together, we must follow its call to the lost kingdom of Vallira."
Once the lost city is located, they walk among statues locked in life-like poses—families, merchants, even animals, all caught mid-motion. The gardens are overgrown, but beauty lingers in every detail. Ithorian raises the stone high and chants an ancient spell; the air shivers as cracks appear in the stone figures, the sound like rain on marble. They all regain the breathe of life once again.
Prince Alaric kneels before Lila, gratitude shining in his eyes. "You have saved us all, brave one. Vallira owes you its life," he says, his voice thick with emotion. The people rejoice, but the earth trembles—the dragon has sensed his curse’s undoing.
"You will not defy me again!" Abyssus thunders, flames licking his jaws. Ithorian counters with a wall of sapphire fire, forcing the dragon back as magic crackles in the air. The townsfolk huddle together, hope flickering in their eyes as Lila steps forward.
A wave of pure, golden light bursts forth, engulfing the dragon. Abyssus writhes, his dark power unraveling, until with a final, anguished roar, he is banished in a flash of fire and smoke. The sky clears, sunlight pouring down on Vallira as peace returns at last.
"Vallira is reborn, thanks to the courage of one pure heart," Alaric proclaims, smiling at Lila. She grins, her eyes shining with pride and affection. As the stone is returned to the earth, the kingdom flourishes, forever grateful to its unlikely hero.
