Jacob Shae, a 10-year-old with red short hair and green eyes, runs excitedly through the hallway. His fair skin glows under the sunlight, and his footsteps echo as he makes his way towards the staircase. His older brother, Wyatt Shae, a shy 16-year-old with blue short hair and blue eyes, watches him from a distance, feeling a mix of protectiveness and anxiety.
"Hey, wait up, Jacob!" calls Wyatt, unable to hide his concern.
As Jacob reaches the stairs, his foot catches on the edge of a step. Time seems to slow down as he tumbles forward, arms flailing. Wyatt lunges to grab him, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Jacob, no!" he shouts, his fingers grazing Jacob’s sleeve but failing to stop his fall.
Gasps ripple through the crowd as Jacob crashes to the floor below, pain shooting through his arm and leg. A murmur of disbelief spreads, with John, a 16-year-old bystander, stepping forward.
"I saw you push him, Wyatt," accuses John, pointing an accusatory finger.
Jacob, wincing from the pain, shakes his head vehemently.
"No, it wasn't like that! I tripped, and Wyatt tried to save me," he insists, his voice strained but firm.
"But why didn't he yell for help?" presses John, skeptical.
"He gets shy and embarrassed with attention," explains Jacob. "If he yelled, everyone would stare at him."
Wyatt, feeling the weight of the crowd’s judgment, finally speaks up, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Jacob is right. I get shy... I just wanted to help him," he admits, his eyes cast down.
Jacob recalls a past incident when he was six, when he had an accident that required magical intervention to replace his limbs. In this world where magic is real, limbs can be swapped and restored.
"Remember when I got new legs and arms after my fall?" Jacob says, trying to lighten the mood. "Wyatt helped me then too."
Wyatt nods, remembering the magical journey they embarked on to help a young boy named Max who also needed limbs.
Jacob recounts the time they helped Max, a 6-year-old from Earth, get new limbs. Despite the challenges, they succeeded and were rewarded with a magical amulet.
"It brought us to Earth, remember? That's where our real adventure began," Jacob says, his eyes shining with excitement.
Wyatt smiles, feeling a sense of pride and nostalgia.
Jacob and Wyatt, with their newfound friend John, prepare to step through the portal.
"Ready for another adventure?" Jacob asks, grinning.
"As long as you're by my side," Wyatt replies, feeling more confident than ever.
Together, they step through the portal, eager to discover what new wonders and challenges await them on Earth.
