May, always the boldest, leads the way, her hiking boots crunching on twigs. Elena, the dreamer, pauses to snap photos of mushrooms and moss, while Tasha lags behind, reading trail markers and sharing fun facts about local plants.
"Can you believe how peaceful it is out here? It’s like we stumbled into a fairy tale,"
"Let’s find something magical. I feel like today’s the day for a real adventure,"
The women freeze, awe-struck by the sight before them. Water dances in the air, catching rainbows in the light. A hush falls over the glade, broken only by the gentle trickle of the fountain.
"Did… did anyone know this was here? This isn’t on any of the maps!"
"It looks like something out of a legend. Should we go closer?"
In their eagerness, a few droplets from the fountain’s spray land on their hands and cheeks. The air feels charged, almost humming with energy, as Elena snaps the picture.
"Say ‘forever young!’"
"Forever young!"
"I hope that’s not a jinx," she laughs, brushing water from her arm.
Blinking in confusion, Maya looks down and gasps—a child’s small hands clutch her shirt, and her voice is a child’s giggle. Elena’s camera nearly slips from her now-tiny fingers, and Tasha’s glasses slide down her nose, much too big for her face.
"What just happened? Why am I... so little?"
"That fountain—did it really do this? Are we… kids again?"
Maya tests her legs, spinning in circles with a delighted shriek. Elena, wide-eyed, inspects her chubby cheeks in a puddle, while Tasha struggles to keep her oversized shoes on. For a moment, excitement and fear mix in their voices.
"This is wild! I feel like I could run forever!"
"But how do we change back? I don’t want to explain this to my mom… again!"
Sunlight glimmers off the fountain, as if winking at their predicament. The forest seems alive with possibility, and the girls—now children again—set off hand-in-hand, laughter echoing as they begin their quest for answers.
"Maybe being young isn’t so bad—at least for a little while,"
"Let’s see what this forest has in store for us. I have a feeling the adventure’s just begun,"
