Leo navigated his yellow cab through the dense evening traffic, eyes glancing at the rearview mirror. The city was alive, yet he felt a strange sense of disconnection.
"Another day, another dollar," he muttered to himself, the mantra of every city dweller. But today, something felt different.
Sylph, a creature of air and light, sat quietly, her presence an enigma in the mundane world.
"What...what are you?" Leo stammered, heart racing.
"I am a Sylph. You can see me, human," her voice was like a whisper of the wind, both soft and compelling.
Goblins with mischievous grins peeked from behind trash cans, while Nymphs swirled around the fountains, their forms shimmering through the cascading water.
"I've lost it," Leo whispered, gripping the steering wheel tight.
"You've found it," corrected the Sylph, her eyes gleaming with ancient wisdom.
"An impending darkness threatens both our worlds. You, Leo, are the bridge between them," she implored.
"But why me?" Leo questioned, doubt mingling with curiosity.
"Because you see," she replied simply, as if that explained everything.
Leo sat in silence, the enormity of his discovery weighing heavily on him. The city was both familiar and alien now, each corner hiding secrets he never imagined.
"If this is real...what do I do?" he pondered aloud, determination flickering in his eyes.
Leo took a deep breath, embracing the uncertainty.
"Time to find out what I'm made of," he declared, driving into the night, the city alive with possibilities.
