Annabeth Chase stretched her arms, feeling the warmth of the morning sun on her face. Percy Jackson stood beside her, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Bet you can't catch me," Percy teased, darting ahead with a cheeky grin.
"Oh, you're on!" Annabeth laughed, sprinting after him with determined strides.
Percy suddenly stopped, catching his breath. "Need a lift?" Annabeth offered playfully, crouching down.
"You're serious?" Percy chuckled, climbing onto her back.
Annabeth adjusted Percy's weight, her steps steady and sure. "You're stronger than you look," he marveled.
"And you're heavier than you seem," she teased, both of them giggling.
Percy leaned his head against Annabeth's shoulder, feeling the closeness between them. "Thanks for always having my back," he whispered.
"Always," Annabeth replied softly, her heart full of affection.
Annabeth gently lowered Percy to the ground, both of them smiling brightly. "We should do this more often," he suggested.
"Anytime you need a ride," she winked, as they walked back to join their friends.
