The King sat upon his majestic golden throne, his face obscured by a brilliant light that seemed to shine from within. Word had reached him of a faraway land where a cruel man kept many slaves in misery. The King's heart, noble and compassionate, ached for those who suffered in bondage.
"I cannot bear the cries of the innocent. Send my messengers at once, and let the captives know hope is not lost,"
The messengers arrived, their cloaks fluttering in the wind, but the mean man scoffed at their pleas. He demanded an impossible sum of money for the slaves' release, his eyes glinting with greed. The slaves, desperate, had already given everything they had, leaving only despair in their hearts.
"I will not let them go unless the King pays me a fortune!" the mean man bellowed.
The King, determined to save the slaves, sent his Son—the Prince, the heir to the Kingdom. The Prince disguised himself as a slave, his handsome features shadowed by grime, yet his intelligence and compassion shone through. Most slaves eyed him with suspicion, but twelve became his loyal friends, and a courageous woman welcomed him into her humble home.
"You may stay here as long as you need, stranger. I see goodness in your eyes," the woman whispered.
Despite his kindness, envy and fear led the slaves to tie the Prince up and drag him before the mean man. The mean man pronounced a harsh sentence—beating and punishment for the Prince. The Prince, his heart heavy yet steadfast, asked to bring forth the money his Father had sent.
"Release the slaves. I have the King's ransom to pay for their freedom," he declared, his voice unwavering.
The mean man's eyes widened at the fortune before him. Though his heart was wicked, the sum was too great to refuse. One by one, the slaves were freed, their chains cast aside, as the Prince silently turned toward the road home.
The King, his face shining brighter than ever, welcomed the Prince home. A new crown and scepter were bestowed upon him, honoring his courage and sacrifice. Invitations were sent to the Prince's twelve friends and the woman who had sheltered him, inviting them to a royal banquet unlike any other.
"For your loyalty and your love, you shall receive a special medal and live in this palace forever and ever," proclaimed the King, as music filled the air and joy overflowed.
