Dutama awoke with a start, blinking at the unfamiliar reflection in the small mirror above the bed. The face staring back was softer, with long lashes and delicate features, framed by a cascade of dark hair that hadn’t been there the night before. Disoriented, Dutama stumbled from the bed, heart pounding, and whispered, "Is this really me? How did this happen overnight?"
Iqan pauses mid-step, eyes wide as he takes in Dutama’s new appearance, but quickly sets the mugs down and seats himself across the table. "Dutama, what happened? You look… different. Is everything okay?" Dutama hesitates, voice trembling as she tries to explain the impossible transformation. "I don’t know. I just woke up like this. I want to change back, Iqan. I need your help."
Dutama flips through pages, searching for any clue about sudden transformations or ancient curses. Iqan scans the internet on his tablet, determined to find answers. "There must be something here," Dutama mutters, frustration simmering beneath her calm exterior. "Look at this," Iqan says, pointing to a passage about mysterious springs in the nearby forest rumored to grant wishes—but not always as intended.
Dutama and Iqan tread carefully, following the clues from the old book. The air grows cooler and the shadows deeper as they approach a moss-covered stone well, half-hidden by ferns. "Do you think this is it?" Dutama asks, hope and fear mingling in her voice. "It has to be. Maybe you made a wish here before?"
Dutama kneels beside the well, heart pounding, and whispers a plea for help, hands trembling. Iqan stands close, his presence steadying, offering encouragement. Suddenly, the water in the well glows with a soft blue light, and a gentle voice echoes from below, "Are you certain you wish to change back? Sometimes, understanding who you are is more important than who you were." Dutama hesitates, caught between longing for her old self and the possibility of embracing something new.
Dutama feels lighter, the weight of uncertainty replaced by acceptance. "Whatever you choose, Dutama, I’ll be here," Iqan assures her, his voice warm with friendship. "Thank you, Iqan. I think I need to discover who I am—no matter what I look like," Dutama replies, a smile spreading across her face as the world glows with new possibilities.
