Senjuro ambled along the path, his mind filled with anticipation and the desire to see Rengoku, his beloved older brother. The morning was serene, yet his heart skipped a beat when he heard a soft whimper from the bushes. Curiosity piqued, he crouched down, parting the leaves to reveal a small, injured Alolan Vulpix with snow-white fur, looking up at him with pleading eyes.
Senjuro hesitated at first, unsure of what he was seeing. "What kind of creature are you?" he whispered, reaching out gently to touch the soft fur. The Vulpix, whom he decided to name Snowy, whimpered softly, nudging his hand. Senjuro knew he had to help her but also understood the need for secrecy. He couldn't let his father or Rengoku discover his new friend.
Every day after his chores, Senjuro would sneak away, bringing scraps of food and fresh water. "You'll be safe here, Snowy," he assured her, wrapping her injured paw with a cloth. However, with each passing day, Rengoku's curiosity grew. "Where do you disappear to?" he would ask, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Senjuro arrived breathless, expecting Snowy to greet him, but the nook was deserted. Panic gripped his heart as he searched frantically, calling out in vain. "Snowy! Where are you?" he cried, fearing the worst. Had a demon taken her, or perhaps a villager with ill intentions?
Driven by desperation, Senjuro concocted a tale for Rengoku, claiming he had an errand to run. "I'll be back soon, brother," he promised, before slipping away to search every corner of the village. With each step, he clung to the hope that he would find Snowy safe and sound.
Just as despair began to settle in, Senjuro heard a familiar whimper. Turning, he saw Snowy hobbling toward him. Relief washed over him as he knelt to embrace her. "I thought I'd lost you," he murmured, tears mingling with his laughter. They were together again, and Senjuro knew he would do whatever it took to protect his secret friend.
