Alex, the son of Athena, stood beside Clarisse La Rue, his eyes fixed on the ground. The demigods around them were slowly dispersing, laughter and chatter filling the air. "Alright, let's see if I can do this," he muttered, determination etched on his face as he prepared to lift Clarisse.
Alex strained, his muscles tensing as he tried to lift Clarisse from the ground. Despite his effort, he found himself unable to do so. "It's okay, Alex," she chuckled, her voice warm with amusement. "Maybe a piggyback ride will be easier."
Alex crouched down, and Clarisse hopped onto his back. He took a deep breath and managed three steps before his legs gave way. "Guess that's my limit," he laughed, gently setting her down.
Clarisse grinned and patted Alex on the shoulder. "My turn," she declared, effortlessly lifting him onto her back. "I'll probably carry you until the end of your life," she teased, her voice full of affection. "And maybe even in the underworld after I'm gone."
Alex laughed, his heart full of gratitude for Clarisse's unwavering friendship. He knew that their bond was stronger than any challenge they might face. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he replied, his voice a soft whisper against the night.
