Luna was a young dragon with bright blue scales and a big heart—but she had a little problem. When things didn’t go her way, her temper flared like a blazing fire! She huffed, puffed, and stomped her feet, sending little sparks into the air.
Theo, the tortoise with a wrinkled and wise expression, approached Luna with a gentle nod. "Luna, when I feel frustrated, I take deep breaths to calm myself," he advised. "Try this: breathe in slowly through your nose… one, two, three… now breathe out through your mouth… one, two, three."
Luna followed Theo's guidance, inhaling deeply and releasing her breath slowly. As she did, the flames of her temper began to subside. "That helped!" she exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face.
Dalia, the slender and graceful deer, stood with her eyes closed, listening intently to the world around her. Luna approached curiously. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I’m practicing mindfulness," Dalia replied softly. "When I feel overwhelmed, I stop and notice the world around me. I listen to the wind, feel the sun on my fur, and take deep breaths." Luna closed her eyes and listened. She heard birds chirping, leaves swaying, and a distant babbling brook. As she focused on the sounds, her heart felt lighter.
Oliver, the wise and observant owl, called down to Luna as she passed by. "Luna, when my thoughts get jumbled, I like to blow away my worries like clouds in the sky," he said. "Try taking a deep breath, then slowly exhale while imagining your worries floating away."
Luna took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, picturing her frustrations drifting up into the sky like fluffy clouds. "I feel so much better!" she cheered, her spirit lightened.
That evening, as Luna curled up in her cozy cave, she remembered the lessons from her new friends. Whenever she felt her temper rise, she knew exactly what to do—breathe deeply, be mindful, and let go of worries.
From that day on, Luna still had big feelings, but now she had the tools to calm her fire, and whenever she met another young dragon struggling with frustration, she passed on the wisdom she had learned. Luna continued to grow and help others, her heart as bright as her blue scales, spreading calm and joy throughout the magical forest.
