Maya, the more adventurous twin with a quick smile, nudges her sister’s arm and points at the screen.
Lila, quieter but just as curious, pulls her blanket tighter.
"This one looks hilarious! Look, it’s about dogs who talk,"
"As long as it’s not another prank video. Last time, you made me jump out of my skin,"
Maya tries to speak, but a yip escapes her mouth instead.
Lila looks down and gasps—a pair of furry paws has replaced her hands.
"Maya, what’s happening? Why do I have paws? And why is the popcorn bowl so huge?"
"I—I think we’re… dogs!"
Maya bounds in a wide circle, tail wagging uncontrollably.
Lila sniffs cautiously at the edge of the sofa, ears perking at every sound.
"Whoa, Lila, you have floppy ears! Oh, and your nose is all wet,"
"So do you! This is so weird, but also… kind of cool?"
"What if we’re stuck like this forever? What about school? Mom and Dad will freak out!"
"Let’s not panic. Maybe if we watch another video, we’ll turn back… Or at least figure out how to pause this one with our noses,"
"Promise me we’ll always look out for each other, even if we turn into cats next time,"
"Promise. But if we do, you’re cleaning the litter box,"
"Ready, Lila? Let’s see what happens next,"
"Together. Always,"
