Mina sat on her bed, her gaze vacant and distant. Each Saturday, a shadow seemed to envelop her, drawing her away from the world she knew. Her parents, Mrs. Tanaka and Mr. Tanaka, exchanged worried glances, aware of the transformation their daughter underwent every weekend.
Mina stood abruptly, her movements jerky and unsettling. "It's happening again," Mrs. Tanaka whispered, clutching her husband's arm. "We must do something before it takes her completely," he replied, determination etched in his features.
Mina watched her former friends play, their joy a painful reminder of what she had lost. Yuki, once her closest friend, glanced at her with a mix of fear and sympathy. "I wish things could go back to the way they were," Yuki murmured to herself.
Mrs. Tanaka spoke softly, "We've heard of a priest who can help. We must try, for Mina's sake." Mr. Tanaka nodded, his face set with resolve. Together, they planned their visit to the church, hoping for a miracle.
Father Hiroshi, a gentle yet commanding presence, welcomed them with a nod. "Let us begin," he intoned, leading Mina to the altar. As prayers echoed through the hallowed halls, a warmth spread through the room, battling the cold within Mina.
Mina emerged from the church, her eyes clear and bright. Her parents embraced her, tears of relief streaming down their faces. "I feel... free," she whispered, a tentative smile playing on her lips. As they walked home, arm in arm, Mina knew she had been given a second chance.
