Daniel, Lisa, Kevin, and Mia stood at the edge of the forbidden area, their breaths visible in the cold air. The ruins were a stark silhouette against the night sky, calling to their youthful daredevil spirit. "It's just an old temple," Lisa said, trying to sound brave. "Let's prove it's all superstition," Kevin added, leading the way with a flashlight.
The group moved cautiously, each footstep echoing eerily. Their path was lined with gnarled roots and broken stones, remnants of a civilization long forgotten. "Does anyone else feel like we're being watched?" Mia whispered, clutching her jacket tighter. Daniel hesitated, his hand gripping the flashlight as he scanned the darkness, but saw nothing beyond the shifting shadows.
Lisa approached the altar, her curiosity piqued by the intricate designs. "I've never seen anything like this," she murmured, reaching for her phone. As she attempted to capture the moment, her device flickered and died, leaving them in an unsettling silence. Then, the whispers came—a low chant in a language none of them recognized.
The cultists formed a circle around them, their faces hidden by dark hoods. One figure, taller than the rest, wore a crown of twisted horns. "The demon has waited long enough... and now, the offering has arrived," he declared, his voice resonating with an unnatural power. Panic surged through the group as they realized the danger they were in.
The earth beneath them seemed to pulse with life, vibrating with each chant. "We need to get out of here!" Daniel shouted, trying to pull them back toward the path. But the cultists' formation was impenetrable, their voices rising in a deafening crescendo. Darkness seemed to swirl around the altar, forming shapes that defied explanation.
Kevin and Mia clung to each other, their eyes wide with terror. "This can't be happening," Mia cried, her voice barely audible over the chaos. The air was thick with fear, and the realization hit them like a cold wave—they were never meant to leave this place alive. Their screams echoed into the night, swallowed by the darkness of The Black Hollow.
