Lena sprinted through the underbrush, her heart pounding in rhythm with her footsteps. The shadows seemed to reach out, clawing at her as she pushed forward, her breaths coming in ragged gasps.
The Killer, relentless and shrouded in darkness, followed closely behind. His presence was a palpable weight, a predator in pursuit of his prey. "I have to keep going," she whispered to herself, urging her tired legs to move faster.
Lena stumbled into the clearing, her eyes darting around for a place to hide. The cabin loomed ahead, offering a sliver of hope in her desperate flight. "Maybe I can lose him in there," she thought, a flicker of determination igniting within her.
Lena pressed her back against the wall, trying to calm her racing heart. The silence was deafening until the sound of footsteps approached. "You think you can hide from me?" his voice taunted, echoing through the small space.
Lena saw her chance as The Killer hesitated at the doorway. She bolted for the back exit, branches scratching her arms as she plunged through the thorny undergrowth. "Almost there," she urged herself, the sound of rushing water growing louder in her ears.
Lena plunged into the icy water, the current tugging at her as she swam with all her remaining strength. As she reached the other side, she glanced back, seeing The Killer standing at the river's edge, his silhouette stark against the night. "I'm safe," she thought, relief flooding through her as she disappeared into the safety of the open field.
