Lila stepped into the elevator, clutching her grocery bag tightly. The soft ding of the doors closing echoed in the confined space. Her eyes flicked to the mirrored walls, where shadows danced in the dim light. The mechanical voice of the elevator broke the silence: "Going down."
As the elevator descended, the lights flickered, casting unsettling shadows. Lila caught sight of a dark silhouette behind her in the mirror. Heart pounding, she spun around, but the space was empty. A whisper, soft yet chilling, seemed to weave through the air: "Don’t look."
Lila’s breathing quickened. Her fingers trembled as she pressed the elevator buttons frantically, each one lighting up under her touch. Suddenly, the elevator jolted to a stop, plunging the space into complete darkness. Her pulse raced, the silence around her oppressive.
The lights flickered back on, revealing strange symbols smeared across the elevator walls, as if written in blood. The mirrors distorted, revealing a looming figure that edged closer with each heartbeat. Lila screamed, desperation in her voice: "Let me out!"
The elevator doors slid open to reveal a janitor standing outside, his expression confused. The elevator was empty, devoid of symbols or shadows. Only Lila’s grocery bag lay abandoned on the floor, a silent testament to her presence moments before.
As the janitor stepped inside to investigate, the elevator let out a soft ding. A whisper echoed in the silence, lingering as if carried by the shadows themselves: "Going down." The doors closed once more, sealing away the mysteries of the night.
