Leda, Shyla, Sadie, and Lexi stood at the gate, their eyes wide with a mix of excitement and dread. The once-grand house loomed before them, its silhouette ominous against the darkening sky. "Are we really doing this?" asked Leda, her voice barely above a whisper.
Shyla led the way, her flashlight cutting through the gloom. Sadie clutched Lexi's arm, her heart pounding in her chest. "Stay close, everyone," Shyla urged, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her.
Lexi shrieked as a chair flew past her, crashing into the wall. Sadie ducked, pulling Leda down with her. "We need to get out of here!" Lexi shouted, panic rising in her voice.
"What is this?" Leda murmured, tracing her fingers along the frame. As she lifted it, the mirror shattered, shards falling like rain. A dark energy surged through the room, and Leda felt a chill run down her spine.
Shyla tugged at Leda's arm, pulling her away from the broken mirror. "Come on, we have to go!" Sadie urged, her voice urgent. Together, they bolted for the door, hearts racing as they stumbled into the cool night air.
Lexi looked back at the mansion, her expression a mix of relief and disbelief. "We made it," Shyla said, her voice tinged with awe. Leda shivered, the memory of the shattered mirror lingering in her mind. "Let's never do that again," Leda whispered, and her friends nodded in agreement, grateful to be safe and together once more.
