Sarah stood alone on the deserted platform, her eyes fixed on the frozen clock overhead. Her heart raced as the whistle grew louder, a reminder of the last train she could not afford to miss. "Hello?" she called, noticing a shadowy figure at the far end of the platform. The figure remained silent, but she felt its gaze, a cold presence in the fog.
Sarah climbed aboard, seeking refuge from the cold. The carriage was eerily empty, the lights flickering above her. She took a seat by the window, trying to shake off the unease that clung to her. As the train pulled away, she glanced back, her heart sinking as she saw the figure now standing on the tracks, watching her with an unnerving intensity.
"Stay on the train," it commanded, its voice low and gravelly. Sarah hesitated, torn between the instinct to flee and the fear of the unknown. As the train began to move again, she felt trapped, the figure's presence growing more oppressive.
"Why are you doing this?" she shouted, her voice cracking with panic. The figure stepped into the light, revealing a grotesque smile. "You're not supposed to be here, Sarah. You should have stayed home." The train shook violently as she reached for the emergency brake, the figure lunging at her with a chilling intent.
The fog had thickened, swallowing the night in its cold embrace. Sarah scrambled to her feet, heart pounding, the station empty once more. She glanced around, fear mingling with relief as she realized the last train was gone. But as she turned to leave, the feeling of being watched lingered, a reminder of the night she would never forget.
