Drew, a stylish teenager with blonde hair cascading down her back, stood in her living room, the glow from the television casting shadows on the walls. The aroma of popcorn filled the air as she prepared for her movie night. Outside, the wind howled softly, a reminder of the solitude enveloping her cozy home.
The phone rang, cutting through the stillness. Drew hesitated before picking up, her curiosity piqued. "Hello?" she answered, her voice steady. A deep voice replied, "Wanna have a little fun?" Unnerved yet intrigued, Drew responded, "Who is this?" The voice chuckled softly, "Tell me your name, and I'll tell you mine."
Drew felt a chill run down her spine. "I don't think so," she replied, her eyes darting to the windows. The popping of the popcorn seemed louder, almost echoing the tension in the room. The voice persisted, "What's that noise?" Drew responded, "I'm making some popcorn."
Drew's heart raced as the voice questioned, "For?" She swallowed hard, "I'm getting ready to watch a video." The voice, now more sinister, asked, "What kind?" Drew hesitated, "It's just a scary movie." The voice's next question was unexpected, "What's your favorite?" Silence hung heavy as Drew struggled to answer.
A sudden creak from the door sent Drew into a panic. "I'm calling the cops," she declared, her voice shaky. The voice taunted, "Go ahead. But the door—did you lock it?" Fear gripped her as she realized the door was slightly open. She rushed to lock it, heart pounding in her chest.
In her haste, Drew grabbed a bat, flinging the door open to find three kids in costumes, startled by her sudden appearance. Relief washed over her, but it was short-lived. A shadow loomed behind them, the real threat revealing itself. The masked figure lunged, and Drew bolted through the house, adrenaline surging.
Drew burst into the backyard, her clothes torn from the chase. The sprinklers erupted, drenching her as she stumbled, breathless. The figure closed in, but she fought back, grabbing a garden tool, swinging it wildly. Yet, in a moment of distraction, the figure struck swiftly, leaving Drew gasping for breath, the night swallowing her scream.
