Alyla gently holds her pet python, its emerald scales shimmering as it wraps around her arm. Beside her, Violet cradles her boa, whose patterned body coils affectionately near her feet. The girls giggle as their serpents explore, curiosity dancing in their eyes.
"Look, Violet! He’s trying to tickle me again," Alyla laughs as the python gently wiggles its tongue over her belly button.
"Mine too! They must think we’re funny," Violet replies, watching her boa mimic the action.
Alyla pours some milk into a shallow dish, calling her python over. Violet does the same for her boa, kneeling beside it as it sips contentedly. The girls share smiles, proud of their nurturing bond.
"Nothing makes me happier than seeing them eat," Alyla says softly.
"They’re like our family," Violet agrees, stroking her boa’s head.
Alyla chases her python as it loops around garden stones, while Violet encourages her boa to climb a low branch. Their joy is palpable, the bond between sisters and pets unbreakable.
"Race you to the tree!" Violet calls, sprinting ahead with her boa.
"You’re on!" Alyla replies, her laughter ringing out.
The creature bursts through the door, roaring with fury. Alyla and Violet huddle together, trembling as their snakes sense the threat. The python and boa rear up, ready to defend their beloved owners.
"Stay behind me, Violet," Alyla whispers, her voice shaky.
"Please don’t hurt them," Violet pleads desperately.
The serpents fight valiantly, their strength unmatched, but the monster is relentless. With a final roar, it slays both the python and the boa, their bodies falling as the monster retreats. The sisters sob, kneeling beside their fallen friends, grief overwhelming their hearts.
"They saved us..." Alyla whispers, tears streaming down her face.
"They were so brave. I’ll never forget them," Violet cries, holding her boa’s lifeless form.
Alyla places her python’s favorite toy beside the grave, while Violet tucks a handwritten note under a stone. Together, they stand hand in hand, honoring the courage and loyalty of their beloved pets. Though their serpents are gone, the sisters find solace in each other, their bond stronger than ever.
"We’ll always remember them. They gave us everything," Alyla says quietly.
"And we’ll keep their spirit alive in our hearts," Violet affirms, as the wind gently stirs the flowers.
