Little Bill, the curious little boy with his signature cap, sat cross-legged on the blanket, munching on a snack. Dora, the adventurous girl with her trusty map, pointed excitedly at a treasure hunt game setup nearby. Boots, the energetic monkey, swung from a low branch, chattering happily. Kai-Lan, the friendly leader with her red dress, clapped her hands to organize everyone. Pablo, the penguin from the Backyardigans, waddled over with his imaginative flair, joined by Uniqua, the pink spotted friend, Tyrone, the moose, and Tasha, the hippo, all buzzing with backyard adventure ideas. Others, a mix of playful friends from nearby neighborhoods, added to the joyful chaos.
"¡Hola amigos! Let's go on the biggest adventure ever – we can explore the whole backyard like it's a magical jungle!" exclaimed Dora, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she unfurled her map for all to see. "Yeah, yeah! Monkey see, monkey do – race you to the slide, Little Bill!" shouted Boots, leaping down and tugging at Little Bill's sleeve playfully. "Great idea! Everyone, use your big feelings to make it fun – yo-so-sí puedo!" encouraged Kai-Lan, while the Backyardigans started humming a tune about their pretend mission.
Suddenly, a spectral form hovered near the oak tree, its voice echoing hollowly. Bisabuela Ghost, who had named himself after Alma Rivera's grandmother, floated forward with chains rattling faintly. The air grew icy, toys trembling on the ground as the ghost's bony hand pointed accusingly at the group.
"W-what's that? It's a ghost! Run, everybody, run!" screamed Little Bill, dropping his snack and bolting toward the fence. "¡Ay, no! It's the Bisabuela Ghost – he's scary! Boots, this way, vamanos!" yelled Dora, grabbing her backpack as Boots screeched in terror. "Oh no, my friends are scared – but we have to stick together! Backyardigans, let's get out of here before he catches us!" cried Kai-Lan, while Pablo, Uniqua, Tyrone, and Tasha joined the frantic dash, others screaming wildly. "Boo-hoo-hoo! I am Bisabuela Ghost, come back and face my wrath from the spirit world!" wailed the apparition, amplifying the panic.
The group tumbled into the neighbor's yard, hearts pounding, hiding behind a cluster of bushes. Little Bill peeked back, wide-eyed. Uniqua huddled close to Tyrone, shivering.
"That ghost was huge and glowing – it called itself Bisabuela Ghost, just like in those spooky stories! We gotta tell someone who can fix this before it follows us home!" panted Pablo, his flippers trembling. "Yeah, my legs are jelly – Dora, do you think it's real? We were just playing, and now this!" whimpered Tasha, clutching Kai-Lan's hand. "Monkey scared! Let's find Geo – he's super small but super smart with his tools and math powers!" suggested Boots, and the group nodded frantically, pushing on.
Geo, the tiny blue Umizoomi engineer with his drillbit hair and gadget belt, tinkered at his bench, sparks flying from a mini-robot. The kids burst in, collapsing in a heap. Milli, Geo's pattern-loving sister, and Bot, the cheerful robot, looked up in surprise.
"Geo! You won't believe it – we were playing in the backyard when this ghost named Bisabuela Ghost appeared out of nowhere, all misty and yelling, and we ran screaming for our lives!" blurted Little Bill, gesturing wildly. "Sí, it had glowing eyes and made the air cold – we all got so scared, even Boots hid behind me! Please help us figure out what to do!" added Dora. "It said it was named after some grandmother from stories – can your Umi skills make it go away, Geo? We're brave, but that was too spooky!" pleaded Kai-Lan, as the Backyardigans and others chimed in with nods and whimpers.
Geo adjusted his goggles, scanning the data. Milli stretched her arms into measuring tapes, and Bot beeped encouragingly. The group watched anxiously as clues popped up.
"Don't worry, friends – with UmiVerse powers, we'll solve this mystery step by step. First, patterns show unusual fog only near that old oak – not natural at all. Tell me everything: what did Bisabuela Ghost look like exactly, and did you hear any weird sounds besides the rattling?" asked Geo calmly, zooming in on footage from hidden cams. "It floated and moaned a lot, but I think I heard giggling under the voice – like someone playing pretend gone wrong!" recalled Tyrone. "Super shape alert! The ghost's outline matches a sheet with holes – classic prank pattern. Let's go check it out together, team!" announced Bot, boosting morale.
The group crept forward cautiously, Geo leading with his drill. The ghost turned – but it was no spirit. It was Mystery Kid, a neighborhood prankster with flour-dusted clothes and a sheet cape, lantern in hand.
"Gotcha! Umi-patterns don't lie – you're no Bisabuela Ghost, just a kid with a costume and projector for the glow. Why scare everyone during our playtime?" declared Geo, as the sheet fell away. "I... I just wanted to join the fun and surprise you all, like in spooky stories about Alma's grandma. I didn't mean to make you run screaming – sorry, it got out of hand with the fog machine!" confessed Mystery Kid, sheepish grin emerging. "¡No más sustos! Next time, just say hi and play with us – adventures are better together!" laughed Dora, hugs all around as tension melted into relieved giggles under the stars.
