Lila brushed the dust off the photo, her eyes widening at the sight of a stern-faced woman in dark robes. "Guys, look at this," she exclaimed, holding it up for Theo and Jasper to see.
"Is that... a witch?" Theo asked, peering over her shoulder.
Jasper, always the skeptic, shrugged. "It could be just a costume, but why hide it?"
Lila flipped through an old tome, searching for any mention of witches in their town's history. "There must be some connection," she murmured, her finger tracing the lines of the photo.
Theo tapped his chin thoughtfully. "My grandma used to tell stories about witches in these woods," he recalled, a hint of excitement in his voice.
Jasper leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "We should check out the woods then, see if there's anything to those stories," he suggested, his curiosity piqued despite himself.
Lila led the way, the photo clutched tightly in her hand. "I have a feeling this path will lead us somewhere important," she said, her determination unwavering.
Theo and Jasper followed closely, their flashlights cutting through the gathering darkness. "It's eerily quiet out here," Theo noted, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Let's hope it stays that way," Jasper replied, casting a wary glance around.
Lila paused at the edge of the clearing, her breath catching in her throat. "This is it. This is where she must have been," she whispered, awe-struck.
Theo stepped forward, examining the stones. "There's something written here," he said, tracing the symbols with his fingers.
Jasper glanced around nervously. "I don't like this. It's too quiet," he muttered, feeling a chill run down his spine.
"These stones speak of a hidden power, bound by the witch," Theo revealed, his voice tinged with excitement and fear.
Lila's eyes widened. "We need to find out more, maybe there's a way to uncover the truth," she urged, her heart pounding with anticipation.
Jasper nodded, the skepticism in his eyes replaced by determination. "Let's do it. Let's find out what really happened here," he agreed, stepping closer to the stones.
Lila looked at her friends, resolve shining in her eyes. "We can't stop now. We've come too far," she declared, her voice steady.
"Agreed. Let's see where this leads," Theo said, his curiosity burning brighter than ever.
Jasper took a deep breath, ready for whatever lay ahead. "Let's go find the truth," he said, a determined grin on his face.
Together, they stepped into the unknown, driven by the promise of adventure and the hope of uncovering the witch's hidden past.
