Detective Leo Martinez stood near the entrance, observing the bustling crowd with a keen eye. Known for his sharp instincts and a soft spot for animals, he was the go-to detective for any zoo-related mysteries. Today, however, he was here to enjoy the festival, or so he thought.
"I can't shake the feeling that something's off," he murmured to Officer Jenna Hayes, a young and eager officer assigned to assist him.
Officer Jenna followed the zookeeper, glancing back at Detective Leo. "Did you hear that? The new panda has disappeared!" she exclaimed.
Detective Leo nodded, his suspicions confirmed. "Let's start with the security footage," he suggested, his mind already piecing together the puzzle.
Detective Leo rewound the footage, scrutinizing each frame. Officer Jenna leaned over his shoulder, her eyes darting between the screens.
"There!" she pointed out, spotting a shadowy figure near the panda enclosure. Detective Leo paused the video.
"Looks like we have our suspect," he remarked, noting the figure's distinctive hat.
Detective Leo approached the suspect, his badge glinting in the fading light. "Going somewhere?" he asked calmly.
The suspect hesitated, his eyes darting between the officers. Officer Jenna stepped forward, confidence in her stride.
"We've got you on tape," she declared, gesturing towards the crate. "Care to explain?"
Detective Leo and Officer Jenna stood by the enclosure, satisfaction evident in their expressions. The panda munched on bamboo, oblivious to the day's excitement.
"Another case closed," Detective Leo said, a hint of pride in his voice.
"And just in time for the festival's fireworks," Officer Jenna replied, glancing up as the first burst of color illuminated the night sky.
