Aiden drops his backpack onto the sand, shaking out a bright towel. Surfboards rest nearby, and the salty scent of the ocean mingles with coconut sunscreen.
Elina approaches, her vibrant bikini catching the sunlight, a playful grin on her face.
"Last one in the water has to buy ice cream!"
"You’re on, Elina. But don’t complain when you lose,"
Aiden sprints, glancing back with mock bravado, but Elina surges ahead, her ponytail flying behind her.
"Too slow, Aiden!"
He dives at the last moment, splashing into the foamy water just as Elina leaps, sending a spray of droplets glittering in the sun.
Aiden floats beside Elina, the playful chase fading into a comfortable silence as they watch seagulls wheel overhead.
"You always win, don’t you?"
"Maybe I just know what I’m chasing," she teases, her laughter light and easy.
Elina leans in, her lips tasting faintly of salt and sunshine, brushing softly against Aiden’s cheek.
"That’s cheating—did you win twice?"
"Only if you count kisses," she whispers, a mischievous spark in her eyes.
Aiden and Elina share melting ice cream cones, their laughter mingling with the hush of the waves.
"Let’s make this our tradition,"
"Only if you promise to let me win sometimes," she replies, nudging him playfully as the stars begin to appear.
Aiden squeezes Elina’s hand, the warmth of the day lingering in every gentle touch.
"Next time, I’ll let you win the race,"
"But never the kisses," he replies, laughter and affection carrying them into the night.
