Noah Jutila sat on the couch, trying to calm his racing heart. He couldn't believe he was here, in the Gru household, next to Margo Gru. His palms were sweaty as he attempted to act natural, but the warmth radiating from Margo made it impossible.
Fifteen minutes into the movie, Margo shifted slightly, and her shoulder accidentally brushed against Noah's. Noah's entire body tensed up, and his face turned crimson. "Uh… Noah?" Margo asked, noticing his reaction. Edith, sitting nearby, smirked. "Dude. You totally are," she teased.
Agnes had chosen the most romantic movie ever for their second film, and Noah's heart sank as the title appeared on the screen. "Oh, I love this one," Agnes exclaimed, clutching her stuffed unicorn. Every romantic scene made Noah squirm, his face hidden behind his hands. "Noah, it's just a movie," Margo said, raising an eyebrow.
As the love interest confessed, Edith couldn't resist. "Hey, Noah, this could be you and Margo," she quipped. Noah's soul left his body as he turned an even deeper shade of red, hands over his face. Margo sighed, giving Edith a look. "Relax, Noah. Don't let Edith get to you," she said gently.
Noah was exhausted from blushing so much. As he got up to leave, Margo walked him to the door. "Hey, despite Edith being Edith, I had fun tonight," she said with a smile. "Y-yeah. Me too," Noah replied, still blushing. "Try not to die of embarrassment next time, okay?" Margo teased.
As Noah walked home, he couldn't help but smile under his hoodie. Sure, he'd been teased mercilessly, but spending the evening with Margo had been worth every embarrassing moment. He knew he'd never fully recover from this night, but maybe, just maybe, he'd get another chance to make a better impression.
