Malcolm sat at a small corner table, fidgeting with the silver bracelet on his wrist. His eyes flickered to the door, and then to Connor, who was leaning back in his chair, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "I can't believe we're actually doing this," Malcolm said, attempting to hide his nervousness.
"Why not? It's just a date," Connor replied, his voice smooth and comforting. He reached across the table, playfully nudging Malcolm's hand. "Besides, what could possibly go wrong?"
Malcolm felt his nerves ease as he listened to Connor recount tales of his latest escapades. "So, there we were, caught between the harpies and a hard place," he chuckled. Malcolm couldn't help but laugh, "You and your brother always seem to find trouble."
Connor leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "It runs in the family," he admitted. Their fingers brushed, and Malcolm felt a warm thrill race through him.
Travis spotted them immediately, his face breaking into a wide grin. "Well, if it isn't the lovebirds!" he announced loudly, drawing curious glances from the other patrons.
Connor groaned, "Travis, this is supposed to be a private date," he said, though his tone was more amused than annoyed.
Travis shrugged, "I couldn't let you have all the fun, could I?" He pulled up a chair, joining them without waiting for an invitation.
Malcolm watched the brothers, caught between exasperation and amusement. "You two never change," he remarked, shaking his head with a smile.
"That's what makes us so charming," Travis quipped, raising his coffee mug in a mock toast. Connor rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress a grin.
Malcolm realized that this, too, was part of the charm of dating Connor. The unpredictability, the warmth of shared moments, and the sense of being part of something larger than himself.
"We'll have our private moments," Connor promised, squeezing Malcolm's hand under the table. Malcolm nodded, feeling content despite the unexpected company.
Travis stood to leave, clapping Connor on the back. "Try not to get into too much trouble, little brother," he teased. Malcolm watched Travis depart, then turned to Connor, "Well, that was an adventure," he said, his voice light with affection. "Every day with us is an adventure," Connor replied, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Malcolm's cheek, sealing the evening with a promise of many more to come.
