Jazlyn Forster sat on the steps of the library, her thick curls catching the last rays of sunlight. She flipped through her planner, trying to make sense of her chaotic senior year schedule. Her mind drifted to the upcoming fashion show, a charity event she was organizing with her friends.
"I can't believe I agreed to this," she muttered to herself, feeling the weight of responsibility.
Hoxhan Hwang, the enigmatic Bosnian-Korean model, stood at the far end of the room, his posture rigid and eyes scanning the crowd with an unreadable expression. His presence was magnetic, drawing attention despite his silent demeanor.
Zoey, one of Jazlyn's closest friends, nudged her with a playful grin. "Isn't that the guy everyone's talking about? The mysterious model?"
"Yeah, Hoxhan, right? I heard he's got some… quirks," Jazlyn replied, her curiosity piqued despite herself.
A few models whispered, casting glances at Hoxhan, who stood apart, seemingly uninterested in the unfolding drama, smoking a cigarette. Jazlyn approached him, her frustration bubbling over. "Hey, is everything okay here? We need everyone to be present and focused," she said, her tone firm but not unkind. "시발" Hoxhan replied curtly, his voice low and devoid of emotion.
Later, as she gathered her things, Hoxhan approached her, his expression inscrutable. "Why so interested in what I’m doing?" he said, his eyes cold. "I just want us to work together, to understand each other," Jazlyn replied earnestly, trying to reach him.
Ana, always a voice of reason, called her later. "Give him time, Jaz. Some people just need more patience and understanding," she advised. "I know, it's just… I see no warmth in him, why is he so reserved?" Jazlyn confessed, her resolve hardening.
One afternoon, as the golden light filtered through the windows, Hoxhan finally spoke, his voice carrying a quiet intensity. "I don't understand emotions like you do, but that doesn't mean I don't feel," he admitted, vulnerability coloring his usually composed facade.
Jazlyn smiled softly, feeling the barriers between them crumble. "We can figure it out together," she promised, knowing their journey from enemies to something more had truly begun.
