Liam Carter was leaning against a lamppost, his eyes glued to his phone. His face was illuminated by the screen's soft light as he nervously typed a message.
"I can't wait to see you tonight," he typed, hesitating before hitting send.
Emma Rodriguez sat cross-legged on her bed, her phone buzzing beside her. She glanced at the message from Liam, her heart skipping a beat.
"What if he's not the one?" she whispered to herself, doubt creeping in.
Liam Carter arrived at the café, scanning the room for Emma. He spotted her sitting in a corner, her expression pensive.
"Hey, you look like you could use some company," he said, sliding into the seat across from her.
"Liam, we need to talk," Emma replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Emma Rodriguez took a deep breath, her eyes meeting Liam's.
"I found something on your phone... a message that wasn't meant for me," she confessed, her voice trembling.
"Emma, that was a fake text," Liam explained hurriedly.
"It was a prank my friends played. I would never do that to you."
Liam Carter reached across the table, taking Emma's hand in his.
"I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. You mean everything to me," he said sincerely.
"I guess we both have to work on our trust," Emma replied, squeezing his hand.
Emma Rodriguez leaned her head on Liam's shoulder, feeling the warmth of his presence.
"Let's make this work," Liam whispered, hope in his voice.
"Together," Emma agreed, smiling softly as they disappeared into the night.
