Peter Parker, a.k.a Spider-Man, leaned against the brick wall of the school, his mind racing. He glanced over at Aaliyah, who stood near the fountain, her laughter like music to his ears. Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Bat-Man, walked up beside him, his expression unreadable.
"We promised, Pete," Bruce said, his voice low but firm. "I know, but it's complicated," Peter replied, a hint of guilt in his eyes. "Complicated? You went behind my back!" Bruce retorted, frustration evident in his tone.
Peter sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I didn't mean for it to happen this way. Aaliyah and I just clicked," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. Bruce sat across from him, arms crossed. "And what about our friendship?" he asked, his gaze unwavering.
Bruce stood with his back to Peter, the silence between them stretching. "I never wanted to hurt you, Bruce," Peter said, stepping closer. "But you did," Bruce replied, his voice tinged with sadness. "Can't we just...talk it out?"
Aaliyah approached them hesitantly, her expression torn. "I care about both of you," she said, her voice gentle yet firm. "This isn't what I wanted. You two mean too much to each other to let this come between you." Peter and Bruce exchanged glances, the weight of her words sinking in.
"We've been through worse, right?" Bruce said, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, we have," Peter replied, relief washing over him. Aaliyah walked between them, linking arms with both, peace restored at last.
