Katniss Everdeen adjusted her quiver, the familiar weight of arrows reassuring against her back. She glanced at the horizon, where the sky blazed with hues of orange and pink. Nearby, Peeta Mellark was tying up his boots, his expression a mix of determination and nervous anticipation. "Are you ready for this, Peeta?"
Peeta looked up, a playful glint in his eyes. "I was thinking," he began, shifting his weight and looking at Katniss with a grin, "how about we make this training a bit more interesting?" Katniss raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you have in mind?"
"A piggyback ride through the woods,"[/@ch_2_d] [@ch_2]Peeta proposed, trying to keep a straight face. Katniss chuckled, shaking her head but feeling the thrill of the challenge. "Alright, but don’t blame me if you get dizzy," she teased, kneeling slightly so Peeta could climb onto her back.
Katniss moved swiftly but carefully, her senses heightened as she navigated the familiar paths. Peeta, clinging on tightly, laughed despite himself, the sound echoing through the trees. "This is incredible, Katniss! I feel like I’m flying!" he exclaimed. Katniss smiled, feeling a sense of freedom she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
Katniss gently set Peeta down, both of them breathless and exhilarated. "We should do this more often," she said, looking up at the stars. Peeta nodded, his eyes soft with affection. "Sometimes, it's good to leave the world behind, even if just for a little while," he agreed.
Katniss and Peeta slowly made their way back, their footsteps light and their hearts full. They walked side by side, comforted by the shared experience and the bond that had grown stronger. "Next time, maybe you can give me a ride," Katniss joked, nudging Peeta playfully. "Deal," he replied, smiling. Together, they disappeared into the night, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
