Jake walked with his head down, the weight of the school day still clinging to his shoulders. His backpack felt heavier than usual, laden not just with textbooks, but with the burden of unspoken fears. He kicked a stray pebble, watching it skitter across the pavement before his path was blocked by two familiar figures.
"Look who it is," one of them sneered. They circled Jake, their presence suffocating. Jake tried to sidestep, but they were relentless. Their fists flew, and he reeled from the blows, his tattered shirt hanging loosely from his frame. "If only I were stronger," Jake whispered to himself.
Jake felt an inexplicable urge to remove his shirt. As he did, a sudden, blinding flash of green gamma radiation struck him, and darkness claimed his consciousness. He awoke the next morning on the couch, feeling different, renewed. His skin was smoother, his muscles more defined. There was a strange pull inside him, a whisper of power he couldn't yet understand.
The bullies, seeing him, moved in with the same malicious intent. But this time, something within Jake shifted. Anger bubbled to the surface, and with it, a strength he had never known. His eyes glowed an eerie green as he sent one bully sprawling with a single punch. The voice inside urged him on: "Beat them up, let me take over," it rumbled.
Jake Hulk roared, a primal sound that reverberated through the air. The bullies cowered, their bravado shattered. With a powerful swing, Jake Hulk sent them crashing into a wall, their defeat absolute. But as the dust settled, Jake Hulk stood alone, the alter ego fully in control, leaving Jake unconscious within.
As Jake Hulk gazed at the scene of his triumph, a part of Jake stirred within, recognizing the cost of his newfound strength. Even in victory, the battle for his identity had only just begun. The road ahead was uncertain, but one thing was clear: Jake would have to learn to live with the beast within.
