Ethan hummed to himself, his mind replaying the day's triumphs on the soccer field. Suddenly, a dark figure emerged from the gloom, grabbing him forcefully. Ethan struggled, but his resistance was futile as a cloth soaked with a pungent liquid pressed against his face. The world around him faded to black, the roar of a van's engine echoing in his mind as consciousness slipped away.
Ethan tried to rise but found his feet encased in strange, soft shoes, locked at the ankles. Crawling was the only option as he surveyed his surroundings, a feeling of unease settling in his stomach. The door creaked open, and a masked man entered, an air of mystery enveloping him. "You will be the source of football energy," the man declared, his voice cold and detached.
When the shoes were finally removed, Ethan was led to a makeshift field with a soccer ball. Despite his weakened state, he played with surprising skill. Frustration creased the brows of his captors as they realized his talent lay not in the shoes but within himself. The masked man returned, placing an outfit made from Ethan's own soccer uniform onto him. Instantly, weakness washed over him, and he collapsed.
Ethan attempted to rally his spirit, but the combination of shoes, collar, and uniform drained him of any remaining strength. Other young players, equally defeated, shared his fate, their spirits broken. Ethan was told his energy would now power a rival competitor, leaving him to languish in obscurity.
He refused to let the despair consume him entirely. Each day, he tested the limits of his bonds, seeking any weakness, any chance of escape. Though his captors believed him defeated, Ethan's spirit was not quashed entirely.
Though the uniform sapped his strength, it could not touch the fire in his heart. Ethan vowed to find a way out, to reunite with his family, and to expose the truth behind his disappearance. His resolve slowly disappeared with each passing day.
