Alex navigated through the throng, clutching a bag of oranges, when suddenly, someone collided with him. A jumble of apologies tumbled out before he could look up and meet the gaze of Juno.
"Alex, it’s you!" Juno exclaimed, her eyes wide with a mixture of relief and urgency.
Juno looked deeply into Alex's eyes, searching for recognition. "We've been married for years, Alex. Not here, not now, but in a future where everything depends on us." The words hung in the air, challenging the very fabric of reality Alex knew.
"Married? I don't even know you," he replied, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Juno squeezed his hand, her expression earnest. "I know it's hard to believe, but I'm a time traveler. Our future—everyone's future—is at stake. We have to stop the climate collapse together."
"You taught me to trust in things unseen, to fight for what seems impossible," she whispered, her eyes reflecting a depth of emotion that felt strangely familiar to Alex. "This isn't just about us. It's about rewriting a future that's already begun to unravel."
"If what you say is true, then what do we do?" he asked, a newfound determination in his voice.
Juno smiled, a smile of someone who has faced countless challenges and yet sees hope. "We find a way to change it. Together."
Alex felt a sense of belonging he couldn't quite explain, as if Juno had reawakened a part of him that had been asleep. "Let's save our future, then," he said, his grip on her hand firm and resolute.
Together, they stepped out of the alley, their path uncertain but their resolve unwavering.
