Emma, a young woman in her early 20s with an average build, glasses, and a ponytail, trudges alone toward the campus convenience store. Her eyes are heavy with fatigue, and her mind is consumed by the stress of finals week at Westlake University. "Three exams left, and I'm running on fumes... I need something stronger than coffee today." She mutters to herself, feeling the weight of her academic burden.
Her eyes scan over the options with desperation. "Nothing seems strong enough. I need something that will actually work this time." She reaches for a uniquely designed can labeled "PRIMAL POWER," its surface adorned with a glowing gorilla silhouette. The drink seems to almost pulse with energy, standing out from the conventional options. The store clerk, an older man with suspicious eyes, watches her choice with mild curiosity. "First time trying Primal Power, huh?" he asks, ringing up the drink.
"Yeah, is it good?" Emma replies, her curiosity piqued by his tone.
"Depends on what you mean by 'good.' Not many come back for seconds." His words leave her with an uneasy feeling. Emma exits the store, examining the can in her hand, a small warning label catching her eye, though the text is too small to read clearly. "That was weird. But I'll try anything at this point."
Emma cracks open the can of Primal Power, the fizz more aggressive than any drink she's encountered before. "Whoa, that's reactive!" she exclaims, taking a hesitant sip. The taste is an odd mix of bananas and battery acid, causing her to grimace. Suddenly, pain grips her abdomen, and she doubles over, the can slipping from her hand, its luminescent contents spilling across the floor.
"Unnngh! Something's... wrong..." she gasps as her hands begin to change, fingers thickening, dark hair sprouting from her skin. Horror fills her eyes as she watches her body betray her. "What's happening to me?!" she cries out, her voice distorted by the cracking of bones and tearing of skin.
The gorilla breathes heavily, looking at its massive hands in disbelief. Through the reflection of a shattered mirror, Emma sees her new form. "That's... ME?! This can't be happening!" Her mind reels as she tests her strength, accidentally crushing a metal desk lamp with ease. "So strong... it's like I could crush anything..."
Jen, her roommate, enters the room, freezing in terror at the sight before her. "AAAHHH! MONSTER!" she screams, backing away.
In a panic, Gorilla Emma leaps through the window, the sound of shattering glass echoing in the air. "SOMEONE CALL SECURITY!" Jen yells from inside.
Surprised by her own strength, she runs on all fours toward the wooded area of the campus, chaos unfolding behind her as students scatter in fear. "Is that a gorilla?!" one student shouts, while another yells, "Run!" The distant sound of campus security echoes, "Code red! Wild animal on campus!"
In the solitude of the woods, Emma pauses, examining her muscular form, her fear slowly giving way to fascination. "I can feel the power... it's incredible. I've never felt anything like this before." She uproots a small tree, testing her strength, the thrill of power coursing through her veins. "My whole life I've been pushed around. Ignored. Underestimated. The smart girl who could never stand up for herself."
Her expression shifts, a new determination burning in her eyes. "But now... now they'll all have to pay attention. No one will ever ignore me again."
"Any sign of the animal?" one guard asks, his voice a whisper in the dark.
"Nothing yet. Animal control is on the way. They think it escaped from a research lab." the other replies.
From the shadows, Gorilla Emma watches, her eyes gleaming with intelligence and a growing malevolence. "They think I'm just an animal. But I'm so much more. I'm evolution. I'm power." With surprising agility, she swings down from a tree, landing between the startled guards. A swift blow renders them unconscious, and she takes their key cards and equipment, a sinister grin spreading across her face. "First, the university research lab. Then... wherever I want. The world needs to meet its new apex predator."
She strides purposefully toward the campus science building, silhouetted against the full moon. The sign reads "WESTLAKE UNIVERSITY - GENETIC RESEARCH CENTER." "Emma was weak. Emma was nothing. But now I'm something else entirely... and I'm never going back. Time to show this world what real power looks like."
