Benny, a sprightly brown rabbit with a floppy blue hat, tunes his guitar backstage. His bandmates—Socks, the squirrel drummer, and Pip, the mole on keyboard—exchange nervous smiles.
"Tonight's the night we make the stars dance with us," Benny whispers, his eyes fixed on the glittering sky.
"Keep the beat steady, Benny!" Socks calls, tapping his drumsticks.
"And don't forget the big finish! The meteor shower should start any minute," Pip adds, his paws dancing over the keys.
Benny leaps from the stage, his ears streaming behind him. Socks and Pip follow, determination lighting their faces.
"We can't let them steal our starry rhythm! After them!"
"I see them! They're heading for the old willow!" Socks shouts, pointing to a gnarled tree illuminated by the meteor shower.
"Don't give up, Benny! We're almost there!"
Hazel[/@ch_4]—clutches the tambourine. She stands in the rain of falling stars, her eyes wide with regret and wonder.]
Benny approaches slowly, panting, but gentle. Hazel trembles, holding out the tambourine.
"I just wanted to play with you. The music sounded so magical," Hazel admits, her voice barely louder than a whisper.
Benny[/@ch_1] takes the tambourine, then offers it back to Hazel with a smile.]
"Of course you can join us. Music is for everyone under the stars,"
The band returns to the glowing stage, now with Hazel playing tambourine. As they play, the entire meadow erupts in joyous dance, the music rising in harmony with the falling stars, and the night echoes with laughter and song.
