Leo groaned as he rolled over, silencing the alarm with a swift slap. He blinked sleepily, glancing at the tousled hair of his little brother Ethan, who was sprawled across the bed, still lost in dreams. Despite the early hour, Leo felt a surge of responsibility and affection for Ethan, knowing another day of adventure awaited them.
Leo deftly poured milk over cereal, watching Ethan as he stumbled into the room, rubbing his eyes. "Morning, Leo! What's for breakfast?"
"Your favorite—chocolate puffs," Leo replied with a grin, sliding the bowl across the table. Ethan beamed, diving into the cereal with gusto, milk dribbling down his chin.
Leo zipped up a well-worn backpack, making sure they had everything needed for their day. "Are we going to the park today?" Ethan asked, his eyes alight with excitement.
"Yeah, let's see what treasures we can find today," Leo responded, ruffling Ethan's hair affectionately.
Leo kept a watchful eye as Ethan darted ahead, his laughter echoing down the street. The rundown buildings and faded graffiti were a familiar backdrop, but the brothers found magic in their surroundings. Ethan paused to examine a patch of wildflowers pushing through the cracks, and Leo couldn't help but smile at his brother's wonder.
Ethan ran ahead, his small figure weaving through the tall grass as Leo followed more slowly, savoring the tranquility of the place. "Look, Leo! I found a secret path!" Ethan called excitedly, pointing to a narrow trail winding through the trees.
"Let's see where it leads," Leo agreed, feeling the thrill of adventure bubble up inside him.
They sat side by side on a fallen log, catching their breath. Ethan leaned against Leo, a contented smile on his face. "Thanks for bringing me here, Leo," Ethan said softly.
"Anytime, little bro. I'll always be here for you," Leo replied, wrapping an arm around Ethan as they watched the clouds drift lazily across the sky.
