Millie, a sprightly tan chihuahua with bright eyes, wiggles impatiently at the sight of her red bicycle basket. Her companion, Lana, a chocolate-colored chihuahua with a white blaze on her chest, circles the blue bike, tail wagging. Peter, a tall, cheerful man in a neon cycling jersey, kneels down to adjust the straps on Millie's basket. Beside him, Anette, with a cascade of curly hair peeking from under her helmet, chats soothingly to Lana, ensuring she’s comfortable.
"Are you two ready for a big adventure?" Peter asks, grinning as Millie gives a delighted yip. Anette gently lifts Lana into the blue basket, tucking a soft scarf around her for warmth.
Peter pedals steadily, keeping a careful eye on Millie as she sits up, ears perked and nose twitching with excitement. Anette laughs as Lana pokes her head out to survey the scenery, her tiny tongue lolling in the wind.
"Look at them! They’re loving every minute," Anette calls to Peter, who glances back and nods, his face beaming with joy. Lana lets out a happy bark that echoes along the canal.
Peter spreads out a checkered picnic blanket while Anette opens a basket filled with treats. Millie leaps out eagerly, sniffing the air, while Lana shyly follows, her tail wagging.
"Is that… peanut butter biscuits?" Millie seems to ask, eyes wide and hopeful. Anette laughs and hands each dog a tiny treat, then offers Peter a sandwich.
Peter quickly covers the food as Millie and Lana snuggle close to their humans. The rain smells fresh and earthy, adding a touch of adventure to their outing.
"I guess this makes it a real adventure," Lana seems to remark, looking up at Anette with bright, trusting eyes. Anette squeezes her gently, assuring her the rain will pass soon.
Peter and Anette load the slightly soggy, but still eager, Millie and Lana back into their baskets. They pedal slowly along the rainbow-lit path, the dogs watching the shimmering colors with wide-eyed wonder.
"What a perfect day—even the rain couldn’t stop us!" Peter says, and Millie barks in agreement, her tail wagging furiously as they ride under the rainbow.

Anette strokes both chihuahuas gently, smiling at Peter as they recall the day’s adventures. The house glows warmly behind them, filled with laughter and the promise of more journeys to come.
"Next time, we’ll pack umbrellas just in case," Anette jokes softly. Lana yawns, snuggling closer to Millie, dreaming of bikes, rainbows, and the open Ottawa trails.
