Liam and Connor were wide-eyed, their small hands slipping from their parents' grasp as the crowd surged around them. The boys looked up, realisin with a jolt that their parents had disappeared into the throng of people. "Connor, where are Mum and Dad?" Liam asked, his voice tinged with worry. "I don't know, Liam," Connor replied, trying to sound brave despite the quiver in his voice. He grabbed Liam's hand tightly. "Let's stick together and find our way back."
Liam and Connor marveled at the street performers juggling and playing instruments. "Look at that," Liam exclaimed, pointing to a man balancing on a unicycle. Connor grinned, momentarily forgetting their predicament. "We've never seen anything like this at home," Connor said, tugging Liam toward a stall selling colourfu balloons. He bought two, one red and one blue, and handed the red one to Liam. "This will help us keep track of each other," he suggested.
Ella, a girl with bright eyes and paint-splattered overalls, glanced up from her painting. "You two look a bit lost," she remarked, her voice friendly.
"We are," Liam admitted. "We're trying to get back to Govan. Can you help us?"
"Sure," Ella said with a nod, packing up her paints. "I know a shortcut through the city. Follow me!"
Ella led the way, her steps confident. Liam and Connor followed closely, their trust in their new friend growing with each turn. "I live nearby," Ella explained. "I've explored these parts for years."
"Thank you for helping us," Connor said, his voice filled with gratitude. "It's nothing," Ella replied with a smile, "It's always nice to make new friends."
Liam and Connor broke into a run, their hearts soaring as they spotted their parents waiting anxiously by a lamppost. "Mum! Dad!" Connor shouted, waving the green balloon high in the air. Ella watched from a distance, her heart warmed by the reunion. "We made it, Connor," Liam said, his voice breathless with joy.
Ella waved goodbye as Liam and Connor embraced their parents. "Thank you, Ella," Connor called, waving back. "We'll never forget this day!"
"Take care, you two," Ella replied, her smile bright even as she turned to leave. The adventure had ended, but the bond they formed would linger in their hearts, a cherished memory of their unexpected journey through Glasgow.
