Caleb whispered as they reached the edge of the woods, "Are you sure about this, guys? It's pretty dark in there."
Rejoice chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Come on, Caleb. Where's your sense of adventure? Besides, it's just a little walk under the stars."
Callie adjusted her backpack, a determined look on her face. "We won't go far. Just enough to feel the thrill of being out here alone. Trust me, it'll be fun."
Caleb paused, looking around uncertainly. "Okay, I admit, this is kind of cool. But which way did we come from?"
Rejoice shrugged, a hint of worry creeping into her voice. "I thought you were keeping track. Everything looks so different in the dark."
Callie tried to stay optimistic, though her confidence wavered. "Let's not panic. We can retrace our steps. We just need to stay calm and think."
Caleb broke the tense silence, his voice tinged with fear. "What if we can't find our way back? What if we're stuck here all night?"
Rejoice tried to inject some humor into the situation. "Well, at least we have each other's company, right? Could be worse."
Callie nodded, though her smile was strained. "Yeah, we've got this. We just need to work together and keep moving."
Caleb spoke quietly, "You know, I was really scared to come out tonight. But I didn't want to seem like a coward."
Rejoice sighed, "I guess I was trying to prove something to myself too. I didn't think we'd actually get lost."
Callie smiled softly, "I think we all had something to prove. But at least we're facing it together."
Caleb pointed excitedly, "Look, I recognize that tree! We must be close to the path!"
Rejoice laughed, relief flooding her voice. "We're almost home! I can't believe we made it."
Callie hugged her friends tightly, "We did it, guys. We found our way back."
Caleb grinned, "I don't think I've ever been so happy to see home."
Rejoice nodded, "And we did it together. That's what matters."
Callie looked at her friends, her heart full. "An adventure to remember, right? One we'll never forget."
